About the Artist
Wavey Forest is a multidisciplinary artist based in Logan, Queensland, working across ceramics, wire sculpture, and found objects. Her practice explores transformation, memory, and the persistence of meaning within natural and constructed forms. She reinterprets materials left behind—such as animal remains or overlooked objects—through tactile processes, creating work that engages with history, texture, and the cycles of life.
Using wire, clay, and gemstones, Wavey’s work investigates how materials carry stories and invites viewers to reflect on the continuity of life, the passage of time, and the tactile experience of handmade art. Her practice is informed by observation of natural processes, historical artefacts, and personal memory, resulting in pieces that are both conceptually grounded and visually expressive.
Evolving Practice
Wavey’s practice has evolved from personal exploration into a professional studio practice. Her work engages audiences by reflecting memory, material history, and the stories carried within natural and reclaimed objects. In a world dominated by mass production, she creates intentionally by hand, allowing materials to guide form and encouraging viewers to experience each piece as both tactile and meaningful. Each work is crafted with care and attention, offering a unique expression of texture, history, and individuality.
